Community Health Project
The community of Chileshe Mukulu has identified their need for accessible heath facilities as a key priority. The remote community of eight villages with 471 households of 5,300 people, 65% under 16 has no health facilities within 10 kilometers. In fact the community is already molding bricks to build a health clinic. Rural Action International worked with the community and the local teachers to conduct a community census. The census was compiled and provided to the Ministry of Health in Kasama in March 2011. |
The Kasama District Health Officer has approved the proposal to establish a clinic and will provide the “maximum cooperation” to ensure the project is completed. You can be part of bringing this clinic to life with your donation.
The Ministry has been working on designs and the bill of quantities to determine the capital budget for the project. Once the capital budget is established Rural Action International will work with the Ministry of Health to determine the amount that the Ministry can fund and the amount that needs to be raised from external sources. In addition it critical to confirm that the Ministry will be able operate and sustain the clinic once it is established.
Discussions are planned for July 2012 and at that point we will be in a position to clarify the amount of funding required from Rural Action International.
